This is not another social media page. Nor is it a collection of data scraped from unverified sources across the internet.
Nosara Calendar is a managed website where events are added directly by local venues and event organizers, keeping information as accurate and up to date as possible.
Designed to make it easy to share and find what’s happening around town, residents and visitors can browse the Calendar in different settings, including map view to see what’s happening nearby. Events can be filtered by category, tag, venue or keyword, and a language toggle provides access in both English and Spanish. Newly added events appear at the top of the homepage, making it easy to check back and see what’s new.
Since launching, we’ve heard repeatedly from the community that a central events hub is exactly what Nosara needed.
Nosara is full of things happening.
Live music, yoga and wellness, art classes and exhibitions, markets, cultural events, fundraisers, family activities, nightlife, learning workshops and community gatherings. New events appear every day, across venues and neighborhoods throughout the area.
There is certainly no shortage of things to do here. It’s finding out about them that’s difficult.
Information is everywhere, but it isn’t organized anywhere.
Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp groups… Social media can be useful, but information tends to disappear quickly into a busy feed. Many people simply give up trying to stay in the loop. Newcomers and visitors to Nosara often find themselves at a loss to know what’s going on, relying on their waiter or someone they met at the beach to share what they’ve heard is happening that week.
Increasingly, even search engines and AI aren’t reliable solutions. They can pull results from abandoned websites, outdated social posts and “event pages” with no events on them. While their answers may sound authoritative, they can contain events that have already passed, venues that no longer exist, or information that hasn’t been updated in years.
Nosara Calendar takes a different approach.

Events on Nosara Calendar are submitted directly by the people and organizations actually running them. Organizers upload the date, time, location and details of their own events, and can update their listings whenever something changes.
We add a second layer of care by reviewing submissions for completeness and consistency, checking map locations and maintaining the platform as a whole.
The result is a central, organized source of local information that is the most reliable and up-to-date community events calendar for the area.
Imagine pinnning your event poster to a community bulletin board that automatically organizes all the posters by date and time, removes events that have passed, allows for easy updating, and keeps everything neat and organized.
Now imagine that the bulletin board isn’t just on Guiones Main Street. It can be seen by someone in North Guiones, Nosara town, San Juanillo, San José, or halfway around the world planning their visit to Nosara.
The Calendar gets your event in front of people looking for things to do in Nosara. Many of them, including the thousands of people who visit each year, aren’t in the local social media chats and don’t know which accounts to follow. Most Nosara residents aren’t in the groups either and many don’t use social media. Even those that do struggle to keep track of the busy, constantly evolving events landscape.
That’s why we created Nosara Calendar: as shared infrastructure — a communal road that brings people to your door. A publicly accessible place where anyone looking for events can easily find them — and you.
The sheer volume of events in Nosara means that one person can no longer be expected to track them all. Gone are the days when someone would print and hand out weekly flyers at sunset beach gatherings. Today, our online calendar allows every organizer and venue to list and manage their own events directly. This keeps information accurate, current, and under the control of the people hosting each event.
Posting an event is quick, simple, and free. Organizers create a free account and access a simple form to submit their poster and event details, which can include links to their own website, social accounts, reservation system, etc.
Events are typically published within the hour, often in minutes. We just do a quick admin review to check that required details are complete and consistent, ensuring the platform remains useful and reliable.
Organizers post once and get continuous exposure to people actively looking for things to do in Nosara. No more getting lost in the feed, buried in busy chats, or promoted by an algorithm to people who aren’t interested. Residents and visitors get what they want too: a centralized place to see what’s going on, so they can call their people, make plans, and show up.
In some ways, Nosara is not a single community.
It is a collection of neighbourhoods, cultures, varied interests, local organizations, visitors, seasonal residents and people who have lived here for decades. Many of these groups don’t necessarily encounter one another in the same digital or physical spaces.
Nosara Calendar helps bridge those gaps.
A visitor can discover a community fundraiser. A longtime resident can find a class they didn’t know existed. Someone in Guiones can discover an event in Nosara town. A Spanish-speaking resident can find an event that might otherwise have been promoted primarily in English, and vice versa.
That’s why all kinds of events are welcome: cultural celebrations, community gatherings, fundraisers, festivals, classes, markets, wellness offerings, parties, live music and more. Particular attention is given to events rooted in Costa Rican culture, which are often less visible online despite being central to life in Nosara.
Our vision is simple but ambitious: to make more of the community visible to everyone, so all of Nosara and its visitors can participate and share in everything that makes it special.
We’ve heard repeatedly from venues and organizers that they’ve seen increased awareness of and attendance at their events since they started sharing them on the Calendar. Now imagine how that exposure would grow exponentially if each organizer shared the Calendar link to their listing when posting across other channels.
While we actively promote the Calendar within the community and online, its reach grows most naturally when the people who use it point others to it as well. As more residents and visitors discover and use the platform, it becomes a familiar starting point for what’s happening around town — which in turn increases visibility for all upcoming events, including your own.
Over time, this awareness makes the Calendar more than a promotional tool for local businesses. It becomes a community resource that people return to; one that grows increasingly stronger as more events are listed and shared.
